Psychotherapeutic Counselling with a holistic approach

The practice operates on the understanding that each client is unique, and that different things are likely to help different people at different points in time. Therefore, as a therapist I draw on techniques from a range of orientations (psychodynamic, person-centred and CBT) and integrate a wide variety of methods into my practice. A vital aspect of my approach is shared decision making: discussions with clients about what they want from therapy, and how they can be helped most effectively to get there.

I am truly passionate about what I do as a professional in the mental health field and my biggest reward is seeing my client’s life change by helping them find a way in a positive direction. I strongly believe that as humans we are meant to change, heal, grow and evolve. I am an accredited member of both The National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society and the National Hypnotherapy Society, working within their ethical framework and bound by their Code of Ethics. The high level of confidentiality will be made clear at the start of your first session.

I gained my hypnotherapist qualification - Cert Hyp CS accredited by the National Hypnotherapy Society - in 2018. I mainly utilise hypnotherapy as a complementary technique in counselling, where I feel the client would benefit from hypnotherapy sessions. The main area of use is stress and anxiety but sessions for other individual issues can be arranged upon request.

Contrary to popular belief, humans stay completely awake during clinical hypnosis and generally recall their experiences. Under the guidance of a trained health care professional, hypnosis can be used to ease pain, treat autoimmune disease, combat phobias, and break bad habits, such as smoking and overeating. Hypnosis can also help people cope with negative emotional states, like stress and anxiety, as well as pain, fatigue, insomnia, mood disorders, and more.

Being a holistic therapist, I acknowledge and respect the body-mind-spirit connection. (If you are physically unwell this will affect how you feel mentally/ emotionally and vice versa). Well into my counselling training, I decided to train as an Indian head massage therapist because I could feel the huge benefits of this ancient massage technique on myself. It has been proven to relieve symptoms of depression and anxiety through relaxation. The renewal and balancing of energy levels is achieved by working with the three higher chakras and quieting the mind. The technique prevents headaches and migraines by releasing built-up tension in the head and neck area and relieving muscle stiffness.

Whatever your individual circumstances, I am here to help you find the best solution to your wellbeing needs.
