FREQUENLTY ASKED QUESTIONS

And all the Answers You Need

WILL MY HEALTH INSURANCE COVER THERAPY?

If you have private healthcare, chances are that it will cover around 10 sessions. However, each policy is different so please contact your insurance provider to clarify.

HOW LONG WILL THE PROCESS TAKE?

The amount of time you spend in therapy is deeply personal and depends on your individual needs, goals, resources and circumstances. There’s no set end date for therapy but there’s no obligation and you can stop whenever it feels right for you. Everyone’s journey and treatment plan plays out differently and the timeline depends on several factors including what issues you are addressing and how quickly you make progress. The number of recommended sessions varies by condition and treatment type, however the majority of clients report feeling significantly better after 3 months, those with depression and anxiety experience improvement after shorter or longer timeframes depending on the depth and complexity of the issue (1-2 months or 3-4 months). Generally, the minimum number of sessions recommended in order to achieve improvement is 6.

HOW DO I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?

You can schedule an appointment online (either by dropping us a message or using the booking service) or via the telephone.

CAN I ONLY MAKE AN APPOINTMENT VIA THE WEBSITE? I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS BEFORE BOOKING

If you are unsure whether the service is for you or just have a few questions in general before booking, please feel free to send a message with your questions, contact details, contact preference and availability to discuss and I will be able to answer them either via email or the telephone.

WHAT ABOUT CONFIDENTIALITY

Client confidentiality is a priority in all but the most exceptional circumstances therefore all information collected during sessions is protected and treated as confidential at all times and will only be stored when necessary and justified. This includes keeping clients' records safe as regulated by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which came into effect in May 2018. Information will only be disclosed under a Court Order or where not to disclose would be a criminal offence (in line with The Terrorism Act 2000 and disclosure of information related to drug trafficking and money laundering) or cause danger or serious harm to the client, the therapist or members of the public.

HOW FREQUENTLY SHOULD I ATTEND THERAPY?

The standard frame is a 50-minute session once per week. However, we might decide together that you need more or less frequent sessions based on a variety of factors such as the severity of what you’re going through cost, and availability. (For example, a deeply distressed client may feel that they simply cannot cope with having to wait a full week before their next session) The weekly one session is the general frame at the start, however, as you start feeling better, the frequency usually reduces down to bi-weekly then monthly sessions. Endings are also a natural part of therapy and even though most clients initially do not like the idea of therapy coming to an end, the experience is one that is similar to becoming your own therapist, i.e. by the end of therapy you will have the tools and knowledge to cope with most situations on your own.

ARE THERE ANY DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE?

Yes. I offer a 15% discount to NHS workers, students, pensioners and individuals on low income. Just send me an email over and I will send the discount code that you can apply at checkout.

There are also block booking discounts available, where you can get 6 sessions for the price of 5 or save £80 with a block booking of 8 sessions if the package is booked and paid for in advance. Click here to view this offer

CANCELLATION/ RESCHEDULING POLICY

Please note that 48 hours notice is required and applies to all bookings, whether they have been made online or via telephone. This is to ensure the smooth running of the service. It is my view that it would be unfair to clients who are waiting on appointments to take up space in the diary then not use it. Life of course can sometimes force us to change plans, which is why re-scheduling is also available.

HOW CAN I GET THE MOST OUT OF THERAPY?

Being honest, having clear goals and being open to feedback that pushes you out of your comfort zone are crucial factors in getting the most out of therapy. It’s important to understand that facing our fears and being uncomfortable are foundational parts of healing and self-transformation. While therapy can be painful and scary, the courage to face our fears and push ourselves beyond our ordinary ways of operating creates resiliency, vitality, and freedom, allowing us to become who we want to be.

WILL THERAPY WORK FOR ME?

WHAT WILL IT FEEL LIKE WHEN I FINISH THERAPY?

How you feel when you finish therapy will depend on your specific goals. Some people just want to get from suffering unbearable anxiety to being able to feel they can handle life’s difficult moments in a healthier way. Others want to bring their lives to the next level to create confidence, inner peace, and resiliency. Still others want to engage in a lifelong process of self-transformation and ever-deepening consciousness. Like anything else in life, what you put in will determine what you get out. How you will feel at the end of treatment depends on your specific goals and drive and how dedicated you are to working on yourself to achieve them.

WILL I HAVE TO LIE ON A COUCH?

Like anything else in life, the chances that you’ll succeed are directly related to your commitment, desire, and efforts. The more committed you are to showing up and making changes to your life, the more likely you will be to create the transformation and healing you seek. While there are no guarantees, there is a large body of research that shows specific therapeutic modalities are proven to help with specific mental health conditions and relationship problems. But your personal experience will depend on how committed you are to bettering yourself and your life.

WILL I HAVE TO TALK ABOUT MY CHILDHOOD?

Not necessarily. If there is value in exploring your childhood, I will let you know. You will never be forced to talk about something that makes you feel uncomfortable however. It Is all about responding to your needs, preferences, and what is most helpful for you.

WHAT IF I MAKE A BLOCK BOOKING BUT THEN DECIDE THE THERAPIST ISN'T RIGHT FOR ME?

ALL BOOKINGS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND FOR THIS REASON I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOUR FIRST BOOKING IS AN INDIVIDUAL ONE. ONCE YOU GET TO KNOW YOUR THERAPIST YOU CAN COMFORTABLY PROCEED TO THE BLOCK BOOKING OPTION.

No. But you can if you want to.

Ideally you should be somewhere where you feel comfortable.

Typically, this means sitting on a couch in the case of in-person counselling or somewhere comfortable in your own home if you are opting for counselling via zoom. However, I have had clients who preferred to take a walk in the park and conduct the session via telephone as that is where they felt most relaxed/ least disturbed.

For hypnotherapy I recommend sitting on the couch so there is less of a risk of falling asleep.

Indian head massage requires you to be sitting on a low-level chair so I can have access to your neck/ head / shoulders and arms.
